TRiggerpoint 2018 product launches
During 2018, my creative director asked for my assistance in helping with several new product launches for our TriggerPoint brand of products. This series of launches includes:
Charge
STK Fusion
Charge Vibe
Grid Vibe Plus
The Charge shape was the newer foam rolling technology, the STK Fusion brought about a custom handheld (or stand held) muscle rolling experience, while the two vibes built upon the new Charge shape and the existing Grid shape by adding vibration.
Process Stage
For these launches, I was tasked with the following goals:
Compiling all photos we would need (education, packaging, and lifestyle)
Developing storyboards for “hype” videos of the Charge and STK Fusion
Packaging, helping storyboard the “hype” videos
Correlating education insert/poster layouts.
Marketing collateral for these products
So you can imagine how much planning and confirmations needed to happen before we could get started.
In this process, and with my given workload, creating sketches and visually pleasing (to me) notes about the elements I needed to remember. I’ve included here just a small sample of the abstract notes and lists I made to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.
Planning the photos and working on the photoshoots were some of my favorite parts. Both the studio photoshoot and the on-location photoshoots provided interesting challenges. Given the time pressures of working with the models in both locations, the fast-paced environment was exciting without being too stressful.
The process of planning the hype videos was a very new experience for me. My undergrad primarily focused on print mediums, so the video development process was an area I always wanted to explore more but never had the time. Working with my art director, we worked together to refine the storyboard to fit the messaging we had decided upon as a team. We then brought these storyboards to an outside, local video production studio to fully film and then edit these videos. Not only getting to see how that process physically was executed but working with the videographer afterward and communicating final edits was a great experience.
Final DesignS
This process had an initial quick turnaround time, and given this I’m extremely pleased with how all of this came out. The collaborative nature of working in so many different areas simultaneous is one of the greater parts of design, in my opinion.
The photos were all accounted for and met every need we had at the time. Additionally, the gained experience and confidence to undertake a daunting amount of work in addition to my normal workload has been critical in my development as a designer. The images below were a few of the shots I helped plan before the shoot and provided feedback on if it would match with packaging or education.
The packaging all came out perfectly in sync with the existing TriggerPoint line of products. Photoshopping the images, developing some new icons for the vibrating products, laying out all of the details, and tediously reviewing all the samples we received from the factory all comprised these items being successful. Additionally, the process of choosing the best package to contain the STK fusion was a fascinating journey to end up with the most aesthetically pleasing, safely contained, and functional result.
The education material, in retrospect, was a little awkwardly sized. However, the layout of the Information was easy to follow and all made for an effective demonstration of the exercises required to use these products. (Examples pending)
The sales sheets and digital banners for these product launches came much easier, as all of the information and photographs were all completed by this point. We were able to meet all of the deadlines and achieve all of the goals set out for creating the “stories” for these products.
